Authentic Bolognese Sauce

A rich and flavorful sauce with a modern twist using turkey bacon.

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook turkey bacon in a large pan over medium heat until crispy. Remove and chop.
  2. Add ground turkey to the pan and cook until browned.
  3. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until softened.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, oregano, and basil. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper, and stir in milk before serving.
  6. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, let the sauce simmer longer.
  • Can substitute ground beef if desired.
