Crock Pot Birria Tacos Recipe

A comfort meal that brings together rich flavors and tender meat.

  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 dried guajillo chiles
  • 2 dried ancho chiles
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 12 corn tortillas
  • 1 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Soak the dried chiles in hot water for 20 minutes.
  2. In a blender, combine soaked chiles, onion, garlic, cumin, and oregano, blending until smooth.
  3. Place the beef in the Crock Pot and pour the blended sauce over the top.
  4. Add the beef broth and stir to combine.
  5. Cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender.
  6. Once cooked, shred the beef with two forks.
  7. For serving, heat corn tortillas and fill each with shredded beef, topping with cilantro and a squeeze of lime.

Notes

  • For added flavor, marinate the beef overnight with the spice blend.
