  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup colored sugar (purple, green, gold)
  • 1 plastic baby (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and set aside for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, eggs, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla.
  3. Add yeast mixture to the bowl and mix well.
  4. Gradually add flour until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  7. Punch down the dough, then shape it into a long rope and form a ring.
  8. Place the ring on a baking sheet and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  10. Once cooled, decorate with colored sugars and place the baby inside if desired.
