Easy Weeknight Meatball Subs

This easy weeknight meatball subs recipe combines turkey bacon and beef patties for a delicious family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 sub rolls
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices turkey bacon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake meatballs for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  5. While meatballs are baking, cook turkey bacon until crispy.
  6. Warm the marinara sauce in a saucepan.
  7. Once meatballs are cooked, assemble the subs by placing meatballs in sub rolls, topping with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, and turkey bacon.
  8. Return the assembled subs to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Feel free to add any additional toppings such as onions or peppers.
  • To make it a healthier option, use whole wheat sub rolls.
